Anthropic brings Claude platform to Google Cloud

Anthropic has announced that companies can now access the full Claude platform via Google Cloud. This new service, managed by Anthropic, offers direct access to innovative features and trials. Logging in and payments will continue to be processed through Google Cloud, ensuring a familiar experience for users.

The announcement of this expansion on October 22 allows companies and developers to integrate Claude into their own software and workflows. These applications are broader than using Claude in Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides. Examples of usage include building AI assistants that perform document analyses, search for current information, and execute complex calculations. Additionally, features are available where Claude operates browsers or performs routine tasks according to predetermined instructions.

With this expansion, customers can choose between the new Anthropic-managed service and the existing variant overseen by Google. With the Anthropic option, they are the data processor, and customers gain direct access to the latest and beta features of the Claude platform. However, the Google-managed variant remains available for organizations that require specific Google integrations or regional data processing.

Of particular relevance for Dutch companies is the fact that the new Anthropic service currently only offers access points in the US and globally, without emphasizing a specific European access point. Additionally, Anthropic offers a 'Fast Mode' for Claude Opus 5.5, which can generate output texts up to 2.5 times faster, which can be useful for interactions with assistants and programming.
