ChatGPT Dots gets mobile installation and more features
OpenAI recently announced an update for ChatGPT Dots, allowing users to create their personal AI assistant directly through the mobile ChatGPT app for both iOS and Android. This makes setting up the assistant easier and more accessible from the smartphone. The update on October 9, 2026, also introduces improvements in browsing, notifications, and setting up Outlook.
With the new feature, it is now possible to start work commands in Codex, OpenAI's programming environment, and continue existing conversations. The assistant can now use information obtained from both ChatGPT and Codex conversations to give follow-up commands. This helps users work more efficiently, as the Dot can better assess when a conversation should be continued or when a new conversation should be started.
Additionally, users can view and adjust their scheduled tasks in ChatGPT Work, enabling them to respond to changes in their agenda. The update also includes several minor improvements that make daily use smoother. For instance, browsing is faster and there are fewer unnecessary notifications.
This update is particularly interesting for users who regularly perform recurring tasks and rely on the AI assistant to streamline their work. Although the functionality is only available to existing users, OpenAI provides a significant improvement in the user experience of the assistant.
