ChatGPT introduces virtual clothing fitting
OpenAI recently introduced two new shopping features for ChatGPT, allowing users to virtually try on clothing and accessories. Additionally, they can save favorite products for later viewing. These innovations aim to enhance the role of ChatGPT in the online shopping experience.
The feature called 'Try On' enables users to upload a selfie or a photo of themselves, after which ChatGPT generates an image of the user wearing the desired clothing item. This provides a visual impression, helping consumers better assess whether a particular item appeals to them. Furthermore, users can upload images of clothing items and virtually try them on to see what suits them best.
In addition to virtual fitting, OpenAI also offers the ability to save favorite products in the 'ChatGPT Library'. Users can create folders to organize their finds, which is particularly useful for putting together outfits for special occasions. Moreover, the images from virtual fitting sessions are stored with these saved items, making it easier to revisit previous combinations.
To support this new shopping experience, OpenAI has developed ChatGPT Images 2.5, which provides more realistic images with natural lighting and improved textures. This update is crucial for evaluating how clothing items look. The image generation time has also been reduced by up to 50 percent, allowing users to quickly try out various options. OpenAI positions its features not only as a direct purchasing experience but also as a way to gain inspiration and search for articles, similar to what is currently done through platforms like Pinterest.
