Claude Tag: AI integration in Slack for teams

Anthropic has introduced the new functionality Claude Tag, which enables the AI assistant Claude to work in team communication applications like Slack. This allows teams to have the assistant follow conversations, combine information from connected tools, and perform tasks without team members having to switch between different chat windows. The feature is available for both Claude Team and Enterprise accounts.

Claude Tag connects Anthropic's AI assistant to the digital workplace. By adding Claude to a channel, the AI can easily answer questions and perform tasks using the context available from previous conversations, shared documents, and various connected tools. This means team members spend less time copying information to separate AI chat platforms.

The operation of Claude Tag is simple: team members tag Claude in a channel to give specific commands, such as gathering outstanding action items or drafting documents. Claude can break down the commands into concrete steps and inform team members about progress. The assistant also logs the actions it takes and asks for permission when acting on behalf of an individual user. Additionally, Claude remembers agreements made within the team, making collaboration more efficient.

Organizations have the ability to determine, on a channel-by-channel basis, which information and tools Claude may use, as well as the frequency of responses and the degree of autonomy in performing tasks. Private channels and direct messages remain outside of Claude's access. The introduction video on YouTube demonstrates how Claude Tag effectively utilizes conversations and documentation to improve team outcomes.
