Enexis builds faster, but lacks space for power stations
Network operator Enexis faces a challenging situation, having 80 million euros worth of ready-to-use power stations in storage. This problem has arisen due to a shortage of available locations to actually install these power stations. This is reported by Het Financieele Dagblad.
Thanks to a new, more efficient construction method, Enexis has managed to significantly reduce the lead time for building power stations from twelve months to just three months. This improvement demonstrates the company's capacity to quickly respond to the growing demand for power supply. The demand for power stations has increased due to the accelerated sustainability efforts and energy needs in the Netherlands.
Nonetheless, this acceleration in construction has not led to a swift installation of the stations, as the company is facing a lack of space. This lack of locations to install the stations severely hampers a quicker solution to the energy demand issue. The situation underscores the need for better spatial planning and collaboration between various parties in the infrastructure and energy sectors.
The challenge faced by Enexis reflects broader issues that hinder the energy transition in the Netherlands. The lack of connection points for energy storage and distribution can impede the progress of the energy network and calls for innovative approaches and collaboration between players in technology and government.
