Google launches AI Edge Foresight for meeting management
Google launched the AI Edge Foresight app on October 6, an innovative tool for Mac users that can record and transcribe meetings offline. This free application allows users to convert brief notes into comprehensive documents without sending data to the cloud. This makes the app particularly appealing for organizations that engage in many confidential discussions, as is common in the Dutch market.
AI Edge Foresight is designed to work with platforms like Google Meet and Zoom, but also supports in-person meetings. During discussions, users can enter keywords, to which the AI then adds contextual information. The application utilizes the microphone and system audio of the Mac to create a transcription, helping to clarify and structure notes.
The technology behind the app uses the AI models EmbeddingGemma 2 and Gemma 4, which run locally on the computer. This means an internet connection is not necessary for the application to function optimally, providing a significant advantage over other cloud-based AI meeting assistants. This aspect ensures that users retain control over their data and that privacy is maintained.
Although AI Edge Foresight is currently only available for Macs with Apple Silicon and a Windows version has not yet been announced, interested users can download the application for free from the official Google website. The effectiveness of the note-taking feature in Dutch has yet to be established, although the basic AI model supports multiple languages. AI Edge Foresight is presented as an experimental tool, and its success will depend on feedback from users in various languages.
