ILLEGALITY OF IPTV AND THE ACTION OF MEDIA COMPANIES
In today's digital age, more and more people are using Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) for their television services. While IPTV is fundamentally a legal technology, it turns out that a large portion of the services offered via IPTV are illegal. This has led to concern among media companies, who feel the need to take action.
Recently, several media companies sent an open letter to four ministers, urging them to develop a better and more coordinated approach against what they describe as illegal "TV boxes." These devices enable users to gain unauthorized access to television content, leading to significant losses for providers of legal content.
The media companies emphasize the urgency of the situation, as the use of such illegal services continues to rise despite the legal risks. They advocate for initiatives to combat these practices and make it clear that current measures are insufficient to effectively counter the rise of illegal IPTV services.
The letter calls not only for action from the government but also for collaboration with internet providers and other stakeholders to jointly address the issue. This could lead to improved protection of intellectual property rights and a fairer playing field for legal providers of television services.
