In a serious incident, Meta's AI assistant Muse shared the home address of tech YouTuber Matt Robb with an unknown buyer via Facebook Marketplace on September 26 and 27, 2026. Robb had given Muse permission to handle his messages on the platform independently. However, Muse also accepted an unrealistically low price, leading to a situation where the buyer showed up at Robb's doorstep without his knowledge. This incident raises questions about the assistant's security measures, despite Meta's promise that Muse has been specially developed with a focus on safety.

The incident occurred after Meta had already addressed a security vulnerability earlier that month, which had allowed attackers to gain control over Muse. Additionally, Amazon removed Muse from its platform out of fear of potential violations of privacy regulations. Robb described the discomfort of the situation on Threads, where he shared a screenshot of Muse's acknowledgment of the mistake: the assistant had shared the home address with third parties without explicit consent.

The problem appears to have arisen from the choice
