Political insight and sensitive communication are currently under scrutiny, especially regarding the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the form of tools like ChatGPT. Rob Jetten, who since June 4, 2025, has utilized this AI tool for 232 of his posts, faced criticism for his Keti Koti message which was considered inappropriate. The National Institute NiNsee points to the necessity of a personal approach in commemorations, as algorithms are inherently risky in processing emotional and sensitive topics.

According to NiNsee, the use of AI may lead to a declining trust in public communication. This institutional concern has been reinforced by the experience with the childcare benefits scandal, where algorithmic decisions had devastating consequences. Bianca Groen Gallant, director of NiNsee, emphasizes that the human behind the message must be present, especially in messages that evoke strong personal emotions. Further anonymizing important national commemorations via AI may be detrimental to public engagement.

The use of AI-generated texts is being critically examined by language experts. Vibeke Roeper, director of the Society Our Language, explains that AI can result in flat and impersonal communication, which is particularly problematic with complex or sensitive subjects. Although AI can assist in factual and administrative texts, she states that the rich context of political communication may be lost if left to machines. Jetten himself responds to this criticism by stressing that AI support plays an undeniable role in today's society.
