The signatories, who have no ties to AI companies, advocate for immediate actions from both the UK government and the media to raise awareness of these risks. They are particularly concerned about the speed and scale at which AI systems are developing their capabilities.

The fellows not only refer to recent mathematical breakthroughs, where AI models have proven capable of solving large open research questions, such as some of the Millennium problems.
