Innovation in Spain thanks to BSC and NVIDIA

The Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) has fully operationalized its AI Factory Accelerator Programme following a successful pilot. This facility provides startups access to sovereign computing power, technical support, and training to promote innovation across various sectors. Several participating companies are also members of the NVIDIA Inception program, which offers them additional resources, including training through open courses from the NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute.

An important expansion of MareNostrum 5, BSC's exceptional public infrastructure that supports scientific and technological research, will now provide supercomputing access via the BSC AI Factory and other AI factories in Europe. The BSC AI Factory, one of the first in Europe and the first in Spain, has delivered over 800 services to both the public and private sectors since its launch in April 2025.

During the recently held demo day of the pilot initiative, three members of the Inception program were appointed AI Champions of the BSC AI Factory Accelerator Programme. The technologies of these companies demonstrate the enormous impact of advanced AI applications. Qatium, which has based all its technologies on NVIDIA’s infrastructure, enables water companies to make strategic decisions. OneCareAI, a research spin-off from BSC, developed methods to identify hidden heart problems through ECG analyses. Avatia presented an innovative system solution for the pharmaceutical industry that supports vendors and provides doctors with reliable information about medications.

Other startups within the BSC AI Factory, such as Agrikola AI and Elna Health, cover a wide range of applications, from precision agriculture to medical imaging and smart packaging technology. This showcases the comprehensive possibilities arising from the application of advanced intelligence, including improving medical diagnoses and promoting sustainable practices.
