Video doorbells enhance the feeling of safety, but behavior remains

Video doorbells provide users with the ability to see who is at their door and even communicate with visitors when they are not at home. This technology gives the impression of a safer living environment by offering additional monitoring at the entrance of the home. The idea that one gains control over their surroundings with a video doorbell contributes to a feeling of safety.

However, observations indicate that this increased feeling of safety does not always correlate with changed behavior. Many users are still guided by the belief that they are well protected with the video doorbell. This can result in recklessness, such as not properly locking the door or reduced awareness regarding potential burglary situations.
