xAI launches Grok Voice 3.0: voicebot for customer conversations
xAI has recently launched Grok Voice 3.0, an advanced voice model that enables companies to use artificial intelligence for telephone customer service. According to xAI, this model is the smartest in the world. At Starlink, SpaceX's internet service, Grok Voice is already used to handle approximately 70% of customer conversations without human involvement.
The new voice model utilizes innovative technologies that enable direct interactivity. Grok Voice 3.0 has a score of 86.9 on the Speech-to-Speech Index from the testing agency Artificial Analysis, surpassing competitors like OpenAI's GPT-Live-1 and Google's Gemini 3.8 Live. The model responds quickly, within a second, and can effectively handle variations in speech, such as accents and background noise. This allows for stricter conversation experiences in customer contact centers.
At Starlink, the model is used daily to handle around 20,000 phone calls in multiple languages. Grok Voice 3.0 can assist customers with troubleshooting issues, adjusting bills, and sending new devices. Businesses can use xAI's Voice Agent API, with costs of about 7 euro cents per minute. The Grok app itself will undergo no changes, and existing users will be automatically transitioned to the new version.
Although more than twenty languages are supported, Dutch is not included in the official list of languages that the model can understand well. For Dutch companies, this means they must test the extent to which Grok Voice 3.0 can function adequately in Dutch. The introduction of this voice AI is a significant step towards the future of customer service, where efficiency and customer satisfaction take center stage.
